In my artistic and creative work, I encounter the other person.
I see the material as a partner in the process. Clay, glaze, surface, scoring, space, light, body - I listen. The clay does something to me, I do something to the clay. It is a resonance relationship.
I work with the work. Things arise from relationships. In this sense, I see my practice as post-humanist: the human being is not at the centre - but is part of a complex fabric of matter, memory, atmosphere, intuition.
My design does not follow a fixed hierarchy. Idea, material, space, context, even chance - everything is of equal value. I follow a flat ontology that seeks form and meaning on all levels. An incision can say as much as a concept. A glaze can tell a story before I have thought a word.
For me, ceramics is a resonant body, a memory, a space of possibility. Every place has a frequency. Every person has a trace. I read and listen to both - and translate it into something that touches, that remains, that resonates.
I work collaboratively, organically, sensitively - in close coordination with what is: the space, also interior design offices, clients:inside. Psycho-topical. I listen to the here and now. Listening creates something - concrete and open, quiet and powerful.
I design customised ceramic wall surfaces and tile pictures - artistically, intuitively and precisely tailored to the space, function and personality. Each design is created in resonance with the location and its ‘psycho-topography’ - in short: psycho-top.
Psycho-top describes the emotional, atmospheric and energetic nature of a space: How does it feel? What story does it tell? What effect should it have? The design reacts to these invisible parameters - sensitively and organically.
Fine incised drawings, sculptural structures, high-quality semi-transparent celadon glazes or elegant accents in gold and lustre - all creative means are developed individually. This results in ceramic surfaces that are aesthetically and emotionally functional: lively and touching.
I work closely with interior design offices, designers and clients. Together we develop spaces with charisma.
